I recently worked with one of my group coaching clients on the mechanics of strategic budgeting.

For the very first time, she realized that she would have a significant amount of money left over, which she’ll be intentionally diverting to her high-yield savings account every month. When I asked her how she felt about it, she told me she found her new situation “both terrifying and exciting.” 

Now you may ask what caused that reaction.

When we are in the process of recalibrating our behaviors from out of control to being in control, recognizing our own agency and taking ownership and accountability over our situation can be very daunting. 

All of a sudden, now we are the ones in charge of our own destiny. 

As she continues to build up her funds, she will build up these muscles and behaviors, and this realization will become less terrifying and more liberating.
